Shots fired at car with children in backseat

NATCHEZ — Natchez police are investigating a Tuesday shooting in which multiple shots were fired at a vehicle carrying two children.

The shooting, police believe, stemmed from an earlier fight between the shooter and the children’s father.

Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said no one was injured in the incident.

Ford said the children’s mother reported that their father called her to pick him up, and when she arrived, she reportedly saw him and an acquaintance fighting outside Talk of the Town nightclub on East Franklin Street.

After the fight, the woman reported that her children’s father got in her car and was driving away when she saw the acquaintance run to his car to get a gun, according to the police report.

The woman reportedly yelled to the man not to shoot because her children were in the car, but the man allegedly fired multiple times, ultimately shooting out the back window of the car, Ford said.

The children were sitting in the backseat of the car, according to the report. Ford did not know the ages of the children but said they were young children.

Ford declined to name the shooting suspect and said the investigation is ongoing.

Animals. Stereotypical. Jackson has at least two shootings a day, a few burglaries, and a couple armed robberies. Natchez is just on a smaller scale with the same lowlife animals. Put a fence around this zoo and charge admission.

It seems marksmanship lessons are needed.

This should have started—-”I went to pick up my HUSBAND from WORK—”. What you get is ” I went to pick up my BABY’S DADDY at the joint where he was in a drunken argument with another useless piece of trash”.

Can we get wildlife and fisheries to give us a grant for the fence? We can’t afford it otherwise.

This is another reason to pack up your family and leave town. There were no murders or shots fired reported in Southlake, TX last year.

    As long as it’s b o b, no problem.

Why is the investigation ongoing??? Were the police not called as soon as the shooting took place? If so, why was he not arrested at the scene. If he fled the scene, surely he didn’t get that far … police could have been at his residence before he even got there!

There’s no doubt that the person who did the shooting should be arrested! DO NOT let these people get away with committing this crime. His actions were felonious and grossly negligent when he fired that gun at that vehicle knowing children were in it. His butt should have been hand-cuffed, mug-shot, fingerprinted and in an orange jumpsuit before the ink dried on this story.

If he is not put in jail soon, it’s just a matter of time before he shoots someone else. Natchez needs to tighten up on these criminals … get them off the street and behind bars!
