Vidalia softball comes back to beat Block

VIDALIA — Vidalia High School overcame a 7-1 deficit to beat Block High School 9-7 Wednesday evening.

Block scored one run in the first and six in the second but went scoreless the rest of the way as the Lady Vikings clawed their was back. Vidalia starter Laura Perilloux got the win, going all seven innings and giving up seven runs, one earned, on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

The Lady Bears’ Micahla Hughes took the loss, surrendering nine runs, four earned, on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Vidalia scored five runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the sixth to overtake Block. Cassie Gonzales and Katelynn Bertelsen both had doubles, and Gonzales finished 3-for-5, while Bertelsen was 2-for-3.

Perilloux was 2-for-4 at the plate, Taylor Rodgers went 3-for-4 and Gracyn Nelson was a perfect 4-for-4 for Vidalia. Hughes and Blake Colclasure had triples for Block, and Nikki Harbor had a double. All three of them went 2-for-4.

Vidalia (17-9-1) will await word on its first postseason opponent. Block finished the regular season 12-16-1.
