NATCHEZ — Thursday’s heavy rain and strong thunderstorms forced the postponements of the day’s area prep baseball and softball games.

An important varsity softball game in MHSAA Region 7-1A between Bogue Chitto and Cathedral at the Lady Green Wave’s softball field was rained out. Cathedral head coach Gary Blackwell said the game was rescheduled for 6 p.m. today.

Franklin County’s home varsity softball game against MHSAA Region 7-3A foe Seminary was also called off because of the bad weather. The game will now be played at 7 p.m. Monday. Because of that, Franklin County’s non-region game at Collins was moved to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Monterey’s home varsity baseball game against LHSAA District 4-B opponent Avoyelles Charter was also a victim of the inclement weather. That game will now take place at 4 p.m. today.

Block was scheduled to host longtime Catahoula Parish rival Harrisonburg Thursday afternoon. Even though it is a non-district game, Bears head coach Stevie McCarthy said the game will be rescheduled for a later date.
