Lola Alice Norwood

RIDGECREST — Services for Lola Alice Norwood, 90, of Ridgecrest, who died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia at 3:05 pm after several extended visits there, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Revs. Preston Holder, Mark Norwood and Don Bush officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Natchez.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Norwood was born July 1, 1922, in Franklin County, the daughter of Charlie and Molly Mitchell.

She lived in Ridgecrest and was a very active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She baked cakes for 27 years and was known as “The Cake Lady.” She died at Promise in Vidalia.

Special thanks go out to the doctors and nurses who shared their services and their love.

Mrs. Norwood was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lottie Munn, Winnie Taylor, Nellie “Ruth” Mitchell Fitt and Jean Mitchell Oliver; and one granddaughter, Aimee Celeste Norwood.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years this July 1, L.B. “Dick” Norwood, of Ridgecrest; one daughter, Diane Thoman; one son, Mark Norwood of Longville and his wife, Paula Nixon Norwood; four grandsons, Michael Thoman, Chris Norwood, Josh Norwood and Bruce Norwood; one granddaughter, Courtney Norwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.
