042513 DorothyPruett obitpicBATON ROUGE — Services for Dorothy Oriante Pruett “Dot, Momma Mickey,” 89, of Baton Rouge, who died in her sleep Sunday, April 21, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.

Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park under the direction of Greenoaks Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Dot was a child of the depression, growing up in New Orleans, Natchez and all over the south, traveling with her father who was an ironworker building bridges across the southern United States.

She was a 1943 graduate of Natchez High School and was Miss Natchez in 1941. Dot worked for Revlon and K&B for more than 30 years and retired at the age of 86. She loved flowers and was an avid protector of animals.

Mrs. Pruett was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Roy Pruett and her parents, Arthur and Wilhelmena Hermann Oriante of New Orleans.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Pruett Atkinson and husband, Paul, and Connie Pruett; six grandchildren, Charlotte “Shamsi” Pettus and her boyfriend, Shelly Plaisance, Christopher Pettus and fiancée, Ashley Stark, and Kate Pettus Craig and husband, Keith; and one great-grandson, Boris Craig.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Companion Animals of Baton Rouge, CAAWS, spaybatonrouge.org or your local food bank.
