UNION CHURCH — Services for Monroe Rankin Jr., 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Block United Methodist Church in Union Church with the Rev. Johnny Irving officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Rankin was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Jefferson County, the son of Longino Rankin and Willie Lou Earls. He worked as a crane operator and attended Hickory Block United Methodist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deloris Rankin; one grandson, Rodney Monroe; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Lessie Mae Young-Rankin; one son, Robert Rankin and wife, Kescher, of Jackson; one brother, John Henry Rankin and wife, Thelma, of Union Church; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Young, Larry Young, Donald Queen, Carlos Owen, Thomas Good and Nana Asare.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
