Help us support education at Trinity

Published 12:06 am Friday, May 10, 2013

As we watch our children blossom and grow largely because of the efforts of Trinity Episcopal School, we wanted to offer our support in a way that would fully encompass our gratitude. Hence, our reason and motivation for chairing the 2013 Trinity Mayfair.

Like many Trinity students, parents, alumni and supporters, we recognize that the quality of education received at Trinity is unparalleled. The atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging, while stimulating individual creativity, is truly exceptional. These reasons, among others, have turned our ordinary volunteer efforts into personal missions to ease the financial burden of our great school wherever it is needed most.

Mayfair is an annual tradition at Trinity Episcopal. It is an event designed to gather faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and supporters to celebrate camaraderie, friendships and Trinity itself.

This year, Mayfair will kick off with Kids Day on the Bluff. On Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., children and adults alike are invited to attend the festival stretching from Silver Street to Roth Hill. A $10 wristband will grant children access to carnival games, inflatable jumpers, cupcake walk, face painting and much more. Mother’s Day crafts are also among the highlights of the day. Purchase tickets on site to participate in the dunking booth, football and baseball throws, a chipping green and the three-story rock climbing wall. Tickets can also be used for concessions.

Crawfish, donated and boiled by Clifford Tillman, will be available beginning at 10:30 a.m. Drop by and pick up a flat of some of the best crawfish in the area!

Later that night, we invite you to join us for the “adults only” Mayfair Gala in the Clyde R. Adams Gymnasium at Trinity. Bidding in the silent auction will begin at 7 p.m., with more than 60 packages donated by local vendors. Class projects from preschoolers through fourth grade will be on display. Don’t miss your chance to bid on an antique gold bracelet, a balloon race package complete with a hot air balloon ride, one ton of deer corn and a deer stand, a Beau Pré golf package and your chance to wine and dine at the best restaurants in town. Good Fellas gaming will be back with “Trinity Cash” to provide entertainment for the night. At 9 p.m., Rusty Jenkins will begin the Live Auction, with packages including a Big Green Egg, a week’s stay in upstate New York and a duck hunt to Angelina Plantation complete with shotguns, waders and camo for the youth and adult lucky winners. Raffle package winners will be drawn and announced for the trip to Disney World, the little red schoolhouse, the custom-built fort, the Supermarket Sweep and free tuition.

Please join the Trinity family on Saturday for the 46th annual Mayfair celebration. Kids Day at the bluff begins at 10 am and ends at 2 p.m. The Mayfair Gala begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Limousine services to the Miss Lou will be provided until midnight.
