Edward Jones financial advisor lobbies in D.C.

NATCHEZ — Russell Butts Sr., a Natchez financial advisor for the financial-services firm Edward Jones, recently met with legislators in Washington, D.C., to seek legislation to increase savings and enhance retirement security.

This is the 29th year for this effort — making it one of the longest-running nationwide grassroots outreach efforts to Congress in existence.

Butts was one of 51 financial advisors chosen from among the firm’s nearly 12,000 who traveled to Washington, D.C., to lobby on behalf of individual investors.

Butts does this as a member of the firm’s Grassroots Task Force, a group dedicated to voicing the investment concerns of individual investors to local, state and national lawmakers. Edward Jones is the only large brokerage firm in the nation to organize this kind of grassroots effort.

“We appreciate the opportunity to communicate the concerns of individual investors, especially those here in Natchez, and make sure they are heard on Capitol Hill,” Butts said.

Edward Jones provides financial services for individual investors in the United States.
