NATCHEZ — An Adams County man was arrested in what is at least Adams County’s fifth vehicle arson in a month’s time.

Calvin James Dee, 42, 1403 Mascagni Drive, was arrested Tuesday on charges of arson. An Adams County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson said Dee is accused of setting fire to a 2012 Chevrolet Impala Monday.

The spokeswoman said the motive for the fire was unclear Wednesday evening.

Dee was also charged with forgery after he allegedly tried to forge a car title, though the spokeswoman said she did not know if the car title was for the vehicle that was burned.

Other recent vehicle arsons include:

•April 28, when an unknown person set fire to a vehicle at a business in the 300 block of Lower Woodville Road.

•May 1, when brothers Llewellyn and Tavares Letcher were arrested and charged with arson allegedly for burning a vehicle to settle a disagreement.

That fire spread to a second vehicle and also damaged a residence.

•May 11, when a 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante on Itasca Drive was burned in what police said the suspects believed to be an apparent act of revenge for a house fire, which is under investigation.

Three men — brothers Kendrell and Terrell Johnson and Joseph C. Tucker — were arrested for the fire.

•May 14, when a reported embittered ex-boyfriend — Carl Ray Freeman — allegedly set fire to a vehicle on Eastwood Road.

In addition to destroying the vehicle, the fire damaged a second vehicle and a residence.
