VICKSBURG — Services for John Tillman Cockerham, 42, of Vicksburg, a retired hydrator operator, who died Sunday, June 2, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cockerham was born in New Orleans and moved to Natchez where he was raised. He had been living in Vicksburg for the past 28 years.

Mr. Cockerham retired from Falco Lime Company as a hydrator operator after 20 years. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Tillman Cockerham; paternal grandparents, Moses Aaron and Lillie Cockerham; maternal grandparents, Claudine Burkhaltor Foster and Kenneth Bass; step-grandfather, John Foster; and one brother-in-law, Bill Wiley.

Survivors include one son, Justin Cockerham of Vicksburg; his mother, Sonja Kay Bass and fiancé, Frank Gay; two sisters, Melissa Ann Wiley and Rebecca Cockerham, both of Vicksburg; longtime companion, Deana Strong of Vicksburg; fishing buddy, Erick Pickering of Vicksburg; three nieces; four nephews; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.

Pallbearers will be Pam Goodwin, Erick Pickering, Keith Pickering, Heath Pickering, Adam Penalver and J.J. Ainsworth.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Huston Strong, Frank Gayle, Bobby Bowman, Toby Westcott, Elvin Wescott Sr., Elvin Wescott Jr. and Michael Buckles.
