VIDALIA — A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Vidalia man Tuesday afternoon.

Louisiana State Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 2:20 p.m. The accident occurred on La. 566 and involved a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by David M. Welch, 33. Welch was westbound on La. 566 when he lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. At that point, the motorcycle began overturning.

According to a La. State Police press release, Welch was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
