FERRIDAY — Services for Jane A. Lancaster, 78, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber and the Rev. Bruce Lancaster officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lancaster was born June 12, 1935, in Concordia Parish, the daughter of James Otto Lancaster Sr. and Ruth Usher Gillespie Lancaster. She was a lifelong resident of Ferriday.

Mrs. Lancaster was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ferriday where she served as an elder and member of the choir and a member of the Presbyterian Women. She retired after 34 years of service with Concordia Bank and Trust as a teller.

Jane never had children of her own, but was a mother to many. Her nieces and nephews would tell her that God created aunts because moms couldn’t be everywhere.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, infant brother, John Bruce Lancaster, James Otto Lancaster Jr., A.K. “Buddy” Lancaster and Dr. Joe Price Lancaster; one nephew, John David Wood; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Lancaster.

Survivors include two sisters, Mittie Lancaster Schiele of Ferriday and Margie Lancaster Wood of Tallulah; two sisters-in-law, Betty E. Lancaster of Baton Rouge and Jimmie W. Lancaster of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers that took great care of Ms. Jane.
