NATCHEZ — April Garon has joined the The Natchez Democrat’s news team as an intern.

Garon is a Brookhaven native. She graduated high school from the Mississippi School of the Arts in Brookhaven and is a senior at the University of Southern Mississippi where she is studying journalism with an emphasis on news editorial and photojournalism.

She has worked at numerous publications, including the Southern Miss branch of Her Campus Magazine as the photography director and the USM student newspaper, The Student Printz, as a reporter and photographer.

In her free time, Garon enjoys cooking sushi and trying out new recipes from different cuisines. She also enjoys shooting with film cameras and working in the darkroom.

She has two dogs, a Schnauzer named Layla and a Shih Tzu named Sonny.
