NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Paul Gary Shaifer, 66, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia with the Rev. George Pookkattu officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Shaifer was born May 20, 1947, in Natchez, the son of Paul Thomas Shaifer and Esther Helena Ourso Shaifer.

He was a 1965 graduate of Cathedral High School and was employed by American General Life Insurance Company for the past 11 years.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Handjis Shaifer; one son, Brian C. Shaifer and wife, Danette, of Miami; two grandchildren, Haley Shaifer and Landon Shaifer, both of Miami; his parents of Natchez; two sisters, Andrea Shaifer of Kenner, La., and Darcel Angelloz and husband, A.J., of Grosse Tete, La.; two brothers-in-law, James Handjis and wife, Jackie, of Natchez and John Paul Handjis and wife, Sherry, of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Chris Smith and husband, Dan, of Greenville, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of choice.
