VIDALIA — After a tough 5-4 loss to Louisiana District 5 in 12 innings Monday afternoon, the Vidalia 16-and-under Seniors All-Stars had to play a second game later that night against Texas East.

The winner would get a rematch with undefeated Louisiana District 5 in the finals late Tuesday afternoon. The loser would be eliminated from the tournament with its second loss.

Unfortunately, Vidalia could not muster up enough offense against a good Texas East team as it fell behind 3-0 early on and ended up losing 6-3.

“We knew they had a real good team,” head coach Micah Hughes said. “The second game, we were wore out.”

Shelby Nolker was charged with the loss in the game against Texas East. She lasted three and two-thirds innings and struck out four batters. Emilee Howard pitched the final three and one-third innings and struck out five batters.

Vidalia was held to just three hits in the game — all singles. Micahla Hughes, Taylor Rodgers and Katelyn Bertelsen each went 1-for-3 while Kelsey Bradford and Emilee Smith each had one run batted in.
