Players continue Beau Pré Club Championship

NATCHEZ — Two top seeds advanced to the semifinals of the championship bracket of the 2013 Beau Pré Club Championship while two players pulled off surprising wins in Sunday’s quarterfinal matches.

Casey Ham, the No. 1 seed, got by No. 8 seed Jeff Anderson 2-and-1. Ham will take on No. 5 seed Cole Bradford in one semifinal match on Saturday. Cole Bradford pulled off a minor upset of No. 4 seed Gary Farmer in a match that wasn’t decided until the 19th hole.

Richard Edgin, the No. 3 seed, had no problem defeating No. 6 seed Kevin Smith Jr., 6-and-4. Edgin will take on No. 15 seed Dr. Craig Bradford in other semifinal match. Dr. Bradford pulled off his second upset of the weekend when he defeated two-time city champion and No. 10 seed Jordan Farmer, 3-and-2.

Tee times for the semifinals in the championship (scratch) bracket are at 12:40 p.m. Saturday.

In the handicap bracket (first flight) quarterfinal matches, Chad Huber defeated Joe Willis, 3-and-1; Chris Kelley defeated Billy Gillon, 2-up; Doug Scruggs defeated Philip Letard, 3-and-2; and Tee Cotten defeated Jake Middleton, 4-and-2.

The semifinal matches in that bracket will be Huber vs. Kelley and Scruggs vs. Cotten.

Tee times for those matches will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
