VICKSBURG — Alcorn State University officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. today to celebrate the opening of the university’s Vicksburg expansion location.

The Alcorn Vicksburg expansion location, which is located in the Vicksburg Pemberton Square Mall, will include four classrooms, a technology center and administrative offices.

Alcorn President M. Christopher Brown II said the Vicksburg expansion is part of the university’s plan to continue providing educational opportunities for those who can’t travel to the main campus at Lorman.

“With the Vicksburg campus, we’re looking to service those adults who are considering going back to school,” Brown said. “Those are the ones who are wanting to get off work, go to their classes and then go home.

“We’re going to be paying close attention to our programs at Vicksburg.”

The ceremony will be at the mall, which is located at 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd., in Vicksburg.
