MONROE, La. — After a sluggish first half, Ouachita Christian showed why it is the two-time LHSAA Class 1A state champion as the Eagles defeated the Block Bears 40-14 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Ouachita Christian only led 6-0 at halftime before breaking the game wide open in the second half. The Eagles outscored the Bears 20-6 in the third quarter and 14-8 in the fourth quarter.

Raymond Plummer accounted for both of Block’s touchdowns. He first scored on a 15-yard run midway through the third quarter, and he scored on a 37-yard pass from Vyn’Quez O’Steen, who came in for Trevor Vault.
