Mr. and Mrs. John Mark Smitherman of Natchez announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Sarah Jean Smitherman, to Dr. Eric Davis Hutto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Ray Hutto of Long Beach.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Edgar Cotten of Natchez, Mrs. Sharon Smitherman and the late Mr. James Willard Smitherman of Natchez.

She attended Mississippi State University and received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2011. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in nursing and health care administration from University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Mr. Otis Douglas Reagan and the late Mrs. Kathryn Dowdy Reagan of Long Beach and Mrs. Neola Hobdy Hutto and the late Mr. Warren “Abe” Hutto of Clara. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2006 with a bachelor’s in biology and biochemistry. In 2010 he received a doctorate in medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He will complete his anesthesiology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in July 2014.

The wedding will be Nov. 2, 2013, at The South Warehouse in Jackson.
