Block falls in overtime, 26-20
ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Block Bears looked good offensively in the first half for the first time all season in taking a 20-7 lead into halftime on the road against Class 4A Peabody Magnet for the Warhorses’ homecoming game.
But the second half was a completely different story as Block’s offense bogged down and Peabody’s offense woke up at the right time as the Warhorses rallied to defeat the Bears 26-20 in overtime.
Peabody tied the game at 20-20 thanks to a pair of touchdown runs in the third quarter. The first one went for 50 yards and the second one went for 1 yard. After a scoreless fourth quarter, the Warhorses won the game on a 12-yard run.
Block quarterback VynQuez O’Steen threw two touchdown passes, the first of which tallied 82 yards to Raymond Plummer nearly midway through the first quarter. The second one went for 25 yards for Dorian Bowman with 7:20 to go until halftime that gave the Bears their 13-point halftime lead.
Cameron Everett scored on a 1-yard run and Austin Danzy ran in for the 2-point conversion for a 14-0 Block lead with 1:41 left in the first quarter, but Pat Goof returned the ensuing kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown just 9 seconds later to make it a 14-7 game.
Block (0-4) plays at 7 p.m. Friday at Bossier High School.
