Natchez Downtown Development has planned another exciting 2nd Saturday weekend for Downtown Natchez!

The fall weather is perfect for strolling our beautiful downtown with its unique shops, galleries and restaurants, which will be open all day and into the evening with unique objects and great food.

The afternoon will be for children — it’s Downtown Kids’ Day. There will be a pumpkin decorating contest from 1 to 3 p.m. on the grassy area at the corner of Franklin and Rankin streets. Pumpkins and painting supplies will be provided.

When the pumpkins are done, we will have a pumpkin parade to Receivable Solutions at the corner of Main and Commerce for a 3:30 p.m. judging. First, second and third prizes will be awarded to three age-groups of children: 2-5, 6-10 and 11-15. There will be free treats for all children.

Snow Cones will be available, as well as pumpkins, for purchase.

Shops that will participate into the evening hours with special exhibits and refreshments are M. Schon Gallery, 415 Main St., with an exhibit of enamels by internationally celebrated mid-20th century artist, Mary Schimpff; Rolland Golden Gallery, 419 Main St., showing “Golden Landscapes, Louisiana to France” by Rolland Golden; Arts Natchez, 425 Main St., featuring art by Deborah McNeal and paintings and prints by Kamaria Parker.

Our featured, after hours restaurant is Breaud’s Seafood and Steak, 112 N. Commerce.

If you haven’t visited Breaud’s in their new location, you are in for a treat.

The courtyard is a spectacular place to wind down after an exciting day. They are offering a 10 percent discount on any entree with a coupon. Be sure to pick up your coupon at downtown stores.

Slick Ricks, 109 N. Pearl, will be open for dinner with their Second Saturday Steak Night, a full menu plus steaks cooked to your order.

Don’t miss this 2nd Saturday this weekend in beautiful, historic, downtown Natchez!
