The cooler temperatures have finally made their way South.

With the holidays quickly approaching, the members of the Natchez Garden Club would like to invite each of you to the November membership meeting.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, the members will meet for a quick business meeting at Magnolia Hall on South Pearl Street. Afterwards at 10:30 a.m., Becky Corkern of Brookhaven, will present a hands-on presentation of her craft replicas of antique crosses and religious icons.

She creates these replicas from fine papers and natural fibers. Also, she will explain the importance of different pilgrimages to ancient European holy sites that inspired a keen interest in her designs. She will talk about how she researched these items to better gain an understanding and appreciation for these artifacts. During her travels, her exploration inspired a deep personal faith journey.

Also, to get in the festive holiday spirit, we will be hosting a cookie swap after the business meeting and program. Instead of lunch, we will be feasting on homemade cookies.

Be sure to bring your three dozen cookies to swap with others. By the end of the meeting, you will go home with a dozen scrumptious baked goodies!

If you need help plating your cookies, come early to the meeting on Thursday to get everything in place.

As always, we will be collecting items for our community service projects. Be sure to bring personal hygiene items for the Guardian Shelter to help them prepare for the winter months.

Also, be sure to bring canned fruits for the Stewpot. They will surely appreciate your kindness with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner.

Also, be sure to mark your calendars for the annual Victorian Luncheon and Soup and Casserole Sale that will be going on during the Christmas holidays.

From 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dec. 5, at Magnolia Hall, there will be a fantastic holiday luncheon, along with an assortment of frozen casseroles and soups for you to stock your freezers with this Christmas.

Be sure to call the Garden Club office at 601-443-9065 to purchase your tickets now.

The members of the Natchez Garden Club would like to wish each of you and your families a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend.

Here’s to too much turkey and dressing on your plates!
