The Rev. Roosevelt and Mrs. Mary A. Sewell of Natchez announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, DeMetris Rochell Sewell to Roderick Laveil Holmes, the son of Mr. Jerry Mitchell and Christine Holmes-Mitchell of Clarksdale.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Natchez High School and a graduate of Alcorn State University where she obtained a master’s in guidance counseling and is currently pursuing a second master’s in workforce educational leadership.
She is the granddaughter of the late Perry Tenner Jr. and Mary Alice Tenner of Fayette and Henry James Sewell Sr. of Natchez and the late Lee Pearl Sewell.
The groom-to-be is a graduate of Borad Street High School in Shelby and a graduate of Alcorn State University. He is employed by the Natchez-Adams School District as an educator.
He is the grandson of Ms. Irene Holmes and Mrs. Georgia Brown.
The wedding ceremony will be at 5 p.m., Dec. 7, at Forest Aid Baptist Church in Natchez. Friends and family are invited.
A private reception will follow at the Eola Hotel.
