NATCHEZ — A 3-1 win for Adams County Christian School was not enough to satisfy boys soccer coach Jimmy Allgood Wednesday evening.

The Rebels (2-1) had goals from Trey Fleming, Dylan Galbreath and Carlos Woods to secure the victory against The Veritas School, but Allgood said he believes his team could have had an even better showing.

“We played about 60 good minutes of soccer in an 80-minute contest,” Allgood said. “I would’ve liked to see us score at least one more goal, which would’ve allowed my whole team to see action. We had some opportunities, and that just comes with working together and getting better as the season goes along.”

Allgood explained that his team came out intense for the first 10 minutes, which included a goal from Fleming eight minutes into the game. After that, Allgood said the Rebels turned their intensity down, allowing Veritas to tie the game 1-1 before the half.

“In the second half, they came out and decided to pass, trap and communicate and play the type of soccer these kids can play,” Allgood said.

Galbreath scored in the 52nd minute, and Woods added a goal in the 64th minute of play. ACCS keeper Zach Pintard only yielded one goal on five shots on goal, while the Rebels scored on three of their 14 shots on goal.

ACCS will host Central Private School at 1 p.m. Saturday.
