Help us make Christmas extraordinary

Wow, what a year! Many of Santa’s little helpers have been hard at work planning one of Natchez’s best Christmas seasons to make it bigger and better.

With the community’s help, Natchez will have new bright decorations throughout the downtown area. Garland will magnificently be draped on Franklin and Main streets, and most all of the downtown buildings will be lined with bright majestic white lights.

New ornaments have been purchased for the Christmas tree on Main Street, and the Natchez Visitors Reception Center will be all decked out as well.

The Christmas Committee has also put together an unbelievable calendar with some new fun events. Go to christmasinnatchez.com or visitnatchez.org for all the details.

Now, we need your help. Floats are needed for the Christmas Parade, which will be at 6 p.m. Saturday. This year’s theme is “Lights, Camera, Natchez” to honor the filming of “Get on Up.”

The Natchezians of the 2013 Year, Sarah Smith and James Biglane, will participate in the parade, along with many other dignitaries of our community.

And of course, a great Christmas parade will also include ole Santa, who has promised to be in town to join the fun!

With that theme we think that you can have fun creating a float to be entered by your church, school or any organization that wants to participate. For applications, please either stop by First Natchez Radio Group at No. 2 O’Farrell Street or log onto 95Country.com — Go to “Giant Stuff” for all Christmas Information.

The Holiday Season can be magical, and it is a time to bring people together and build some lasting memories. The Christmas Parade needs to be an event that we all anticipate and that represents everyone in our entire community.

Your participation and help will be greatly appreciated!
