Allain’s death saddens former editor

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Allain.

In 1959, I moved to Natchez as city editor of the old Natchez Times, and Bill befriended me practically from day one. Later in 1959, he ran for district attorney — his first political race — against Lenox Foreman.

He lost, but he decided he wanted a life of public service. And what a wonderful public servant he became! I’m blessed to have known him.
