NATCHEZ — Police believe an ongoing feud between two men caused them to crash their cars into each other and one man to shoot the other Friday night on Dumas Drive.

Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said the shooting victim reported that he and an acquaintance ran into each other’s cars while driving on Dumas Drive at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The two drivers exited their vehicles, and the victim reported the acquaintance fired approximately eight shots at him, Ford said.

After driving to the police department to report the incident, Ford said, the victim realized he had been wounded in the knee.

The victim was treated at Natchez Community Hospital, Ford said, for a wound caused by a bullet grazing his knee.

Ford said police believe a longstanding dispute between the two men was the reason behind the altercation.

No arrests have been made in the case, Ford said.

“But we’re still investigating what happened,” he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
