Ferriday — Funeral services for Grace Evelyn Hootsell 78, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at St. Francis Cabrini hospital in Alexandria, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ferriday Church of God with the Rev. B.J. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at Ferriday Church of God in Ferriday.

Grace was born Aug. 31, 1935, to the union of Thomas J. and Rosebud Broome Sumrall. She passed from this life surrounded by her loving family. She was a housewife.

Grace was a loving soul who always put God first in her life and showed kindness to all. She never met a stranger and taught her children these things which they will always have to cherish her memories and the love of family. She will surely be missed by all that knew her.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents and one child Charles Randy Hootsell.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60-plus years, Herman Hootsell; children Kathy Marler and husband, Lewis, of Woodworth, Leisa Morace and husband, Robert, of Branson, Mo., Tommy Hootsell of Natchez, Jeffery Hootsell of Vidalia, and Kim Petermann and husband, Johnny, of Jackson; grandchildren Eric Marler, Dana Bennett, Somer Jones, Bethany Mecke, Cameron Petermann and J.P. Petermann III; one great-grandchild, Tristan Dean Mecke; and one sister, June Robertson and husband, Larry, of Van Cleave.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Marler, Robert Morace, Johnny Petermann, Eric Marler, Nehemiah Jones, Brett Bennett and Mitchell Mecke.
