PORT GIBSON — Police are searching for a man they believe shot another man Monday afternoon on Y-Camp Road in Port Gibson.

Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas said police believe Marque West, 20, shot and killed Erick Hyder, 32, at approximately 3:20 p.m. following an argument near Hyder’s residence on Y-Camp Road. Lucas said West also lives on Y-Camp Road.

Lucas said after the argument, West reportedly left to retrieve a gun, returned and shot Hyder approximately 100 yards from his house.

West reportedly fled after the shooting.
