NATCHEZ — Services for Frank Dent Jr., 58, of Inglewood, Calif., formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grove African Methodist Church with the Rev. James Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Dent was born Sept. 8, 1955, in Natchez, the son of Frank Sr. and Anna L. Dent.

He was a 1973 graduate of North Natchez High School and a graduate of Long Beach City College. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines Corp.

He was employed as a marine electrician with Long Beach Naval Shipyard and Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., where he retired after many years of service.

Mr. Dent was preceded in death by his father; maternal and paternal grandparents; two brothers; one niece; and one brother-in-law.

Survivors include his mother; two sons, Davarius Dent of Natchez, formerly of Devonshire, Bermuda and Jarryd Dent of Gardena, Calif.; four daughters, Sharieka Dent and Kijana Dent Butterfield, both of Devonshire, Breana Dent of Gardena and Amber Fournier and husband, Sesmon, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Otis and Tyrone Dent, both of Natchez; eight sisters, Patricia, Gloria, Forrestine, Wanda and Gwendolyn Dent, Juanita Smith and Pamela Elery, all of Natchez, and Donna Coleman of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and a number of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
