Cemetery fundraiser planned Saturday

Winston Cemetery created in the late 1800s and St. Mary’s Memorial Garden created in 2009 were designed to be final resting places for the loved ones who have entered into their eternal rest.

Generations of our family are buried in plots in these cemeteries, and they serve as an integral part of our church history, family histories and community history. It is extremely important that these cemeteries be properly maintained, organized and preserved as important historical sites within our community.

St. Mary Baptist Church would like to invite the general public to attend a memorial service for the families, members and friends resting in the Winston and St. Mary Memorial Garden Cemeteries at 6 p.m. Saturday. Special guests include Tracy Cusic, the Rev. David Hendricks and an all male chorus. The Master of Service will be Deacon Willie Minor.

Additionally, we are seeking funds to make certain that the cemeteries’ graves are well maintained.

The church family is encouraging all families who have loved ones buried in one of these cemeteries and any interested community members to join with us in this worthy event.

With your assistance, it is possible to keep up the maintenance and beautification of these historical sites.

St. Mary Baptist Church is located at 11 Howard Loop Road off Airport Road in Selma.
