FERRIDAY — Services for John David Wallace III, 64, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his residence, will be at 6 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Morea officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport.

Burial will follow in the cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Wallace was born Feb. 8, 1950, in Shreveport, the son of John David Wallace Jr. and Imogene Burley Wallace King.

He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University with a B.A. in economics and a B.A. in business. He attended LSU Shreveport and was awarded his M.B.A.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ferriday and was a descendent of Filmore Kelsey Burley and Aletha Belle Norfolk, both of Concordia Parish.

He was an enthusiastic evangelical Christian, ever ready to defend the faith and spread the Gospel.

He had been a resident of Ferriday since 2000.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1973, stationed in Panama.

Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Steven Michael Wallace.

Survivors include his mother; one brother, Dr. Richard Wallace and wife, Nancy, of Shreveport; and a number of nephews and nieces.
