Prep Roundup: Weather cancels games

NATCHEZ — For the first time this year, winter weather did not postpone any local and area high school baseball and softball games. But the thunderstorms and heavy rain that pounded the Miss-Lou on Thursday night and early Friday morning did.

Adams County Christian School’s junior varsity and varsity baseball games at Amite School Center were postponed, but no make-up date has been announced.

Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s JV and varsity home baseball games against Tallulah Academy have been rescheduled for next Monday with the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Centreville Academy’s MAIS District 6-AA varsity baseball doubleheader at Central Private School in Baker, La., was postponed until today starting at 4 p.m.

Franklin County High School’s varsity baseball game at home against MHSAA Region 7-3A opponent Jefferson County High School was also postponed. No make-up date has yet been announced.

Monterey High School’s varsity baseball game at Maurepas High School was called off. That game has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. today and the varsity game at Holden High School will still take place at 2 p.m. today.

The 2014 Vidalia Vikings Softball Classic at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex — Block vs. Monterey (Field 1), St. Frederick vs. Vidalia (Field 2), and Vidalia vs. Franklin Parish (Field 1) — were canceled. Weather permitting, today’s games will go on as scheduled.

Cathedral School and Franklin County High School games were cancelled.

The Cathedral Lady Green Wave’s games against West Lincoln were rained out, and head coach Gary Blackwell said they will not be rescheduled.

Natchez head coach Dana Smith said the Lady Bulldogs’ games will not be rescheduled because there is no room on the schedule to do so.
