NATCHEZServices for Mary Camille Loomis, 60, of Seabrook, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March, 26, 2014, of complications after surgery in Houston, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Ms. Loomis was born Dec. 17, 1953, in Sulphur, La., the daughter of Gene Carroll Loomis Sr. and Catherine Pitchford Loomis.

She attended elementary school at Cathedral School and graduated from high school in New Iberia, La. She continued her education at Barat College of the Sacred Heart in Forest Lake, Ill., and graduated with a B.A. in English. Ms. Loomis found her niche in writing, initially working for several nonprofit organizations and then as a successful technical writer.

Camille will be remembered for her generosity and thoughtfulness. This generosity extended to family and friends, as she taught many the fine art of writing, whose careers are testaments to Camille’s skills as a writer and teacher. Camille was an avid reader and an excellent cook.

Camille was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Stephen Patrick Loomis, and a nephew, Adam Marc Loomis.

Survivors include her mother of Lafayette, La.; five brothers, Gene C. Loomis Jr., John Charles Loomis, both of Lafayette, Robert L. Loomis and wife, Liz, of Chino Hills, Calif., William F. Loomis of Lafayette, Richard L. Loomis and wife, Sue, of Julian, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Loomis of Galveston, Texas, and Patricia E. Loomis of San Pedro, Calif.; one niece, Angela M. Hosseini of Tomball, Texas; nephews Andrew Hosseini of Houston, Jason R. Loomis and wife, Tara, of Chino Hills, Erik A. Loomis and wife, Sara, of Chino Hills, Dane P. Loomis of Chino Hills, grand nephew Matthew P. Moreno of Tomball, grand nieces Emma C. Loomis of Lafayette, Isabelle M. Loomis and Lilly D. Loomis, both of Chino Hills.

Pallbearers will be John Charles Loomis, Robert Loomis, Richard Loomis, Andrew Hosseini, Erik Loomis and Dane Loomis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene C. Loomis Jr., Jason Loomis and Matthew Moreno.
