NATCHEZServices for Ruby Lee Brazell Hughes, 90, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill McCullin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hughes was born April 15, 1923, in Smackover, Ark., the daughter of Perry Pat Brazell and Loretta Graham Brazell.

She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wayne Hughes; four brothers, Ray Brazell, Nolan Brazell, E.J. Brazell and Vernon Brazell; and two sisters, Louise Hodge and Jean Fitchner.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon Monroe Hughes Sr.; two sons, Gordon Monroe “Peewee” Hughes Jr. and wife, Barbara, and William Glen “Bill” Hughes and wife, Janet, all of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Lisa Coley and husband, Kevin, of Vidalia, Michael Hughes and wife, Kate, of Harrison, Ariz., Tina Huff and husband, Chris, of Wildsville, La., Tance Hughes and wife, Lesley, and Seth Hughes, all of Vidalia; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hughes, Tance Hughes, Seth Hughes, Kyle Coley, Kevin Coley and Chris Huff.
