NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents interested in helping fight local hunger efforts can join students from across the region today as they seek to package more than 80,000 bags of food.

Cathedral Key Club members are hosting the organization’s district conference, which will also include a meal-packing event from noon to 5 p.m. at the Natchez Community Center.

The event will challenge Key Club members and, hopefully, volunteers to package bags of food through the non-profit organization, Kids Against Hunger.

The meals include four readily available and dry ingredients that are easy to package, maintain for long periods and require only boiling with water to prepare.

The Cathedral Key Club received a $10,000 grant through Kiwanis International Foundation to purchase more food to pack.

All meals the students and volunteers pack will be distributed to local food banks, shelters and churches.
