Mr. and Mrs. John “Gene” Baker of Monterey announce the engagement of their daughter, Brooke Baker to Matthew Avery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Avery of Monterey.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Monterey High School and a graduate of Central Louisiana Technical and Community College in Ferriday.

She is employed by The Columns in Jonesville.

She is the granddaughter of Valda Greene and the late Curtis Greene of Monterey, John and Denise Baker of Kissee Mills, Mo., and Katherine Price of Jonesboro, Ark.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Monterey High School.

He is employed by Sulzer Turbo Services of LaPorte, Texas.

He is the grandson of the late Luther and Orell Tiffee of Monterey and the late Lloyd and Lavonne Avery of West Concord, Minn.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the home of Gene and Darlene Baker.

A reception will follow.

Family and friends are invited.
