Prep Roundup: Weather cancels contests

NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School’s non-district junior varsity and varsity home baseball games against Porter’s Chapel School that were scheduled to take place Tuesday were postponed due to unplayable field conditions as a result of Sunday night’s heavy rain event.

The games will now take place Thursday with the JV game at 4 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m. It will also be Senior Night at ACCS.

Trinity Episcopal’s junior varsity and varsity baseball games at MAIS District 7-A rival Tallulah Academy were cancelled due to the weather. As to when it will be rescheduled is up in the air. There is a possibility that the two teams could end up playing a varsity doubleheader Friday.

Cathedral’s MHSAA Region 7-1A varsity softball doubleheader against Mt. Olive High School was cancelled. Head coach Gary Blackwell said no-make up date has been announced.

The Lady Green Wave’s home games against Enterprise that were cancelled way back on March 4 due to winter weather will be played Friday with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m. And that’s after they play at Bogue Chitto Thursday.

That same storm also forced the JV and varsity baseball games between archrivals St. Aloysius and Cathedral in Region 7-1A action at Chester Willis Field to be cancelled. Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said the games will take place Thursday with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Vidalia High School’s JV and varsity softball home games against LHSAA District 3-3A foe Buckeye High School at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex were also postponed due to Tuesday’s inclement weather. The varsity game will take place today at 5 p.m.

Franklin County High School’s JV and varsity softball games at MHSAA Region 7-3A opponent Tylertown were also called due to heavy rain in Tylertown. Those games will take place Friday at 5 and 6 p.m., respectively. Because of the rescheduling of those games, Franklin County’s games at non-region opponent West Lincoln have been cancelled and will not be made up.

Monterey High School’s varsity softball home game against LHSAA District 6-B rival Grace Christian School was called due to the inclement weather Tuesday afternoon. No make-up date has been announced.
