NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Joseph Nathaniel Brooks, 61, of Natchez,  who died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Forest Aid Baptist Church with the Rev. Mechelle Brooks Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. with a “Celebration of Life” wake service  from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, both at the funeral home.

Mr. Brooks was born Sept. 30, 1952, in Natchez, the son of Ernest Brooks Sr. and Rebecca Brooks.

He was preceeded in death by his father and one  brother, Ernest Brooks Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; his mother; two sons, Jaramy Calcote and wife, Rhonda, and Nicholas Brooks both of Texas; five daughters, Roslyn Marvel of Natchez, Keshelia Calcote, Kimberly McGee and husband, Billy, Calesha Herrington and husband, Nap, Daveka Woods and husband, Larry, all of Texas; four brothers, James E. Brooks and wife, Evelyn,  and Gilmer M. Brooks both of Natchez, Don A. Brooks and wife, Gloria, of Washington, D.C, and Leroy A. Brooks and wife, Martha, of Camp Springs, Md.; two sisters Iris Rose Rice, and husband, Charley, and Cheryl Brooks Warren both of Natchez; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
