Prep Roundup: Rain cancels CHS, postpones VHS gamePublished 12:01am Tuesday, April 15, 2014
NATCHEZ — After a couple of rounds of rain moved through the Miss-Lou region between late Sunday night and sporadically throughout Monday, several area baseball and softball games were called off.
Cathedral High School’s junior varsity and varsity home softball games against non-region rival Franklin County High School was cancelled. Cathedral head coach Gary Blackwell said those games will not be made up.
Blackwell added that today’s MHSAA Region 7-1A game at archrival St. Aloysius in a varsity-only contest will probably be postponed until Wednesday at a time to be determined due to all the rain that fell in Vicksburg on Monday.
Vidalia High School’s LHSAA District 3-3A junior varsity and varsity home baseball games against Caldwell Parish High School were postponed until today with the JV game to take place at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Block High School’s baseball team was scheduled to host rival St. Mary’s High School from Natchitoches, La., in an LHSAA District 3-1A game at 4 p.m. Monday, but that game has been pushed back to today with a later-than-usual start time of 5:30 p.m.
Franklin County’s JV and varsity home baseball games against MHSAA Region 7-3A opponent Crystal Springs were also rained out. No make-up date has been determined.
