Welcome to good times, crawfish

Six years ago, the Natchez Young Professionals began as an effort by the Natchez Adams County Chamber of Commerce to help facilitate networking and camaraderie among the growing number of young professionals who called Natchez home.

Through the efforts of many individuals, this organization has grown to have more than 100 members who meet monthly and are becoming more involved in the community in which they reside.

The group hopes to serve as an organization that brings together a wide range of young businessmen and women that range from educators to health professionals to those in the corporate world.

The Natchez Children’s Home Services is the oldest child-caring agency in the state of Mississippi and has been involved in Natchez and the surrounding communities since it began operations in 1816 under a former name.

The organization was originally founded in order to fund a charity school for the underprivileged children in the area, and it continues to serve children who have been neglected, displaced or who are at risk. Currently, the Natchez Children’s Home Services is the only Children’s Advocacy Center in the Miss-Lou.

This year, the Young Professionals of the Natchez Chamber of Commerce and the Natchez Children’s Home Services have joined efforts to host the 6th annual Boiling on the Bluff crawfish boil from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday on the bluff in front of Bowies Tavern.

We would like to invite all of Natchez and the surrounding areas out for food, music and fellowship. Music will be provided by Natchez native Charlie Hugg.

In addition, Kid’s Party Palace will be providing a bouncy castle for the kids. A ticket for $10 includes a flat of crawfish with all the trimmings. Beer will be available on site.

Tickets are available in advance at the Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street and at the Natchez Children’s Home Services as well as at the gate on the day of the event.

This event is a community event, and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a good time and great crawfish.
