Police searching for suspects in shooting, beating

NATCHEZ — Police are searching for two men who reportedly shot at another man and beat him with a baseball bat Tuesday night at Terrace Motel.

Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said the victim reported one man fired two shots from a handgun at him shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the U.S. 61 North motel. The bullets did not hit the victim.

The victim also reported another man struck him several times with a baseball bat before both suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Thunderbird.

The responding officer reported the victim had gash wounds on his right wrist and his left arm appeared to be broken, according to the police report.

The officer also reported the victim was vomiting blood before being transported by ambulance to Natchez Community Hospital.

No arrests have been made, Ford said. Police have been unsuccessful in attempts to contact the victim for help identifying the suspects.
