James and Connie Martin of Dunbarton, La., announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Thompson to Jason Maxwell, son of Randy and Roselinda Maxwell of Ferriday. The bride-to-be is also the daughter of the late Joseph E. Knapp of Monterey.

She is a graduate of Vidalia High School.

She is employed by Energy Drilling Company in Natchez.

She is the granddaughter of the late J.W. Thompson Jr. and Ida Mae Thompson of Monterey and JoAnn Lancaster and Alton Knapp Sr. of Monterey.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Vidalia High School.

He is employed by Advanced Building Services in Ferriday.

He is the grandson of the late Elaine Maxwell of Monroe and the late Pearl Loflin of Natchez.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Old Beach Resort in Gulf Shores, Ala.

A reception will follow at Bella Luna.
