NATCHEZ — The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Adams County and Concordia Parish lasting until 3 a.m. today.

A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms and multiple tornadoes in and close to the watch area, according to the NWS.

The NWS also issued a hazardous weather outlook for both areas stating a slow moving and potent spring weather system could bring a high risk of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes throughout the next several days.

Storms are expected to stall over the area, bringing the possibility of flash floods and river floods through Tuesday.

At least three tornadoes flattened homes and businesses, flipped trucks over on highways and bent telephone poles into 45-degree angles as they barreled through the South on Monday, killing at least one woman in Mississippi and unleashing severe thunderstorms, damaging hail and flash floods.
