May 28:

Steven McQuirter charged with fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer. Case bound over to a grand jury. McQuirter also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Court Cases

Thursday, May 8:

William Breithaupt Atkins pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders’ court. Sentenced to 15 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200 in the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk upon release from custody from MDOC.

James Keith Nations pleaded guilty to sexual battery (counts 2 and 3) in Judge Sanders’ court. Sentenced to 20 years in MDOC on each count to run concurrently. After serving 15 years on said sentence, the remaining balance of five years is to be suspended and the defendant will be placed on five years formal post release supervision, which will be supervised under the supervision of MDOC. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200 in the Office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk before release from the custody of MDOC

Thursday, May 1:

Dwight Gibson pleaded guilty felony false pretense, a value in excess of $500, in Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson’s court. Sentenced to one year on each of the five counts, for a total of five years to run consecutive in MDOC. Must pay restitution of $1,200 to the remaining victim. Full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail. Must pay all court costs and fees to include a $200 prosecution fee.

William Christopher Bradley has his post-release supervision revoked in Judge Johnson’s court for being clearly in violation of the terms of his supervision as he pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge in the Adams County Justice Court in January 2014. Must serve the remaining balance of his sentence in MDOC.

Court Cases

Friday, May 2:

Katrina Djuana Singleton, 30, pleaded guilty to willful trespassing. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $323.

Monday, May 5:

Karl Ellis Jr., 18, found guilty of shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $573.

Tamerra Parson, 18, pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace by fighting. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $473.

Devoncia L. Hammett, 18, pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace by fighting. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $473.

Sierra Nichole Streeter, 18, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $573.

Elizabeth Rose Anders, 19, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $573.

Tuesday, May 6:

Bruce Leonard Cauthen, 52, charged with uttering a forgery. Case bound over to a grand jury after preliminary hearing held.

James W. Broussard, 43, charged with felony false pretense. Waived preliminary hearing. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Dillon McInttyre, 21, charged with two counts of burglary of a commercial building, cars, etc. Waived preliminary hearing. Case bound over to a grand jury. Bond set at $25,000 on each count.

Marcus McDonald charged with armed robbery. Case dismissed — victim testified that he was not the correct person. McDonald also charged with retaliation against a public witness. Case dismissed — victim testified that he was not the correct person.

Wednesday, May 7:

Maurice E. Davis, 22, charged with murder. Case bound over to a grand jury after preliminary hearing held.

Jhakeel Q. Hawkins, 20, charged with murder. Case bound over to a grand jury after preliminary hearing held.

Victoria Wimberly, 31, pleaded guilty to amended charge of disturbing the peace — domestic violence. Sentenced to 30 days with 28 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve two days in jail. Fine set at $473.

Cordell Wimberly, 50, charged with simple assault — domestic violence (second offense). Case dismissed.
