NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Ike Foster, 92, of Natchez, who died Friday, June 13, 2014, surrounded by his family at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Broome and the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating..

Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Fair River Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church.

Ike Foster was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Sontag in Lawrence County, the son of Plez and Georgia Foster. Ike served with the U.S. Army 96th Evacuation Hospital in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe campaign from Oct. 23, 1942, to Dec. 18, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Service Star for the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre of Operations, ATO Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

After his discharge, Ike was employed by the Mid-Continent Oil Supply Company in Brookhaven and Natchez as a salesman and later store manager, and retired after 20 years of service in 1974. He served as an Adams County supervisor for district four, and he founded Ike Foster and Sons. Ike served as a deacon at Riverside Baptist Church in Natchez and was a charter member and deacon on Pine Ridge Baptist Church.

Ike was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Louise Fugler Foster; his parents; and two brothers, Harvey and Pete Foster.

Survivors include his wife, Julia McClure Miller Foster; son, Harry and wife, Joyce; son, Terrell and wife, Patricia; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Parmer; daughter, Ann Rabb and husband, Wayne; daughter, Nan New and husband, David New Jr.; son, Dwayne Miller and wife, Shawn; and son, Greg Miller and wife, Beth; 14 grandchidlren, Darla Nash and husband Don, Clay foster and wife, Missy, Ferris Foster, Justin Foster and wife Tara, Janee Fisher and husband, Mike, Jason Parmer and wife, Leigh, Lauren Hamm and husband, Anthony, Bryan Rabb and wife JJ, Rebecca Beach and husband, Brad, David Alton New III and wife, Jerry, Katie Miller, Sarah Miller, Samantha Miller, Amanda Williams and husband, Colby; 18 great-grandchildren, Grant Montgomery, Michael Andrews, Huntleigh and Hayden Foster, Jaden and Cooper Foster, Brinkley and Alaina Fisher, Abilene and Ike Parmer, Jay Cramer, Keaton and Braeden Hamm, Reagan and Colton Rabb, Carley Beach, David Alton New IV, Lexie Sessums, Christopher Lambright; and two sisters, Annie Mae Smith and Johnnye Nations and husband, W.L.

Pallbearers will be Clay Foster, Jason Parmer, Justin Foster, Bryan Rabb, David Alton New III and Brad Beach.

Honorary pallbearers will include Foster and Son employees.

Special gratitude goes to Kenneth Stubbs MD, Larry Johnson, Betty Squalls, Elois Davis, Melissa Tucker, Tawana Sewell, Shelia Evans, Rachel Washington, Ashley Wilson, RN and Reggie Robson, RN.
