WINNSBORO, La. — The 7 and 8-year-old Concordia machine pitch all-star team had a tough weekend in the district tournament in Winnsboro, La., throughout the weekend, but head coach Jarrod Gregg said he was happy his team stayed competitive no matter the circumstances.

Gregg said his team faces some tough competition early on, but never gave up.

“It is very difficult to compete with the travel ball teams who have been playing together for a number of years,” Gregg said. “Our team played well and had very competitive games against the non-travel ball teams.  There was an exponential improvement from the first game in sub-district play to the last game we played in district.”

Concordia suffered a 16-4 loss to Rayville Friday morning, but came back that evening to snag a 16-9 win against Winnsboro, the host team.

But it was the only win they could garner throughout the weekend as they were shutout 11-0 to East Ouachita South Saturday morning and 12-10 to West Monroe North to end their season.
