COLUMBIA — Services for Sharon Harris Wyant Thornton, 60, of Columbia, who died Sunday, July 6, 2014, after a battle with Lupus, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Riser Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Smith officiating.Sharon Thornton obit 07:09

Burial will follow in Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert under the direction of Riser Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Thornton was born Nov. 27, 1953, in Monroe, the daughter of Larry Benjamin “Doyle” Harris and Marie Fern Taylor Harris.

She was a lifelong resident of the U.S., having lived in many states over her 60 years of life. She resided in Columbia for the past six years of her life.

Ms. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Wyant of Columbia; four daughters, Donna Wyant, Shellie Wyant, Amanda Finley and Mary Beth Wyant, all of Columbia; 14 grandchildren, Dale Cagle, McKenzie and Charity Wyant, Nathan Wyant, Dakota Wyant, Christian McCranie, Gracie Buckles, Erin Finley, Bailey Finley, Brad-lee, Krystal and Chelsie; three great-grandchildren, LaDavid, Kenneth and Peyton; six sisters, Jeanette West, Helen Parker and Glenda Harris, all of Columbia, Violet Huff of Crowville, Betty Thompson of Natchez and Patricia Thornton of Vidalia.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Wyant, Dakota Wyant, Nathan Wyant, Christian McCranie, Jim Steele and Jesse Steele.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Beth Wyant and Roger Ward.

In lieu of flowers, any planned memorials may be made to the Lupus Research Foundation.
