ROXIE – Services for Roger Dale Wilson, 66, who died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Parkview Church of God with Brother Eddie King officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Wilson

Wilson was born on Dec. 18, 1947, in Winnsboro, La., the son of Melvin and Lessie Wilson.

He was an agronomist, licensed ordained minister, and pastor at AGAPE Christian Fellowship, Broken Rose Ministries and numerous other churches.

He was a musician, singer, songwriter, avid book reader, dynamic preacher, student of the Word, beloved pastor with a love to travel, and a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

He was a veteran, who earned two Purple Hearts during Vietnam.

His greatest love was his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and he wanted all to know him and he loved all people.

Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Wilson; mother, Lessie Wilson; brother-in law, Jerry Wilson; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Judy Rose Wallace; sister-in-laws, Margie Wilson Judie Robinson and Lynn Lance; niece, Ellen Saunders; and father-in-law, James Whittington.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Dianne Wilson; three daughter Christi Hinson and husband, Brian, Amanda Wallace and husband, Christopher, and Nicky Cone and husband, Paul; two sisters, Lorrene Swendon and husband, Joe, and Melba Dixon and husband, Mike; four brother-in-laws, Glyn Lance and family, Armond Dufren and family, Teddy Robinson and family and Jimmy and wife, Pat, Whittington and family; grandchildren, Matthew, Abriana, Shawn Hinson, Jessie Caleb, Abby Wallace, Joshua and Seth Cone and a number of other nieces, nephews, close family and friends. Others considered family were Mary Ridley, Mandy Green, Edna Holmes, Josephine Dunbar and their families; Kathy Ellis Pace and family.

Pallbearers are Armond Dufren, Paul Cone, Rudy Wilson, Shot Gwin, Preston King and Matthew Hinson.

Honorary pall bearers will be James Lance, Brian Hinson, Bobby King and Marley King.

A special love and thanks to Eddie King, family, the church body at Parkview Church of God, all doctors, nurses, and all staff at VA Medical Center in Jackson, and to Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home and staff for a job well done.
