NATCHEZ — Memorial services for James William “Jimmy” Blanton Sr., 62, of Natchez who died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Reception Room with Dr. Doug Broome and the Rev. Derrick Burt officiating.

Upon Mr. Blanton’s request, his body was donated to the UMC Medical School for research.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Jimmy was born Dec. 6, 1951, in Koscuisko, the son of Irvin Word and Lula Mae Blanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Leslie Ann Blanton.

Survivors include one son, James William Blanton Jr. and wife, Mary Jo; two grandchildren, Reed and Mary Claire Blanton and Lynda Reed Blanton; two brothers, Kent and Randy Blanton; his girlfriend, Kim Gammill; and extended family and friends.
